With the ultimate vision of positioning Dubai as the world’s most visited city, Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) is the principal authority for the planning, supervision, development and marketing of Dubai’s tourism sector; marketing and promoting the Emirate’s commerce sector; and is responsible for the licensing and classification of all tourism services, including hotels, tour operators and travel agents. Brands and departments within the Dubai Tourism portfolio include Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Dubai Business Events, Dubai Cruise Tourism, Dubai Calendar, and Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment. In addition to its headquarters in Dubai, DTCM operates 20 offices worldwide.
Established in January 1997, DTCM has played a pivotal role in Dubai’s rise to prominence as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations, welcoming more than 11 million visitors in 2013. Having achieved this milestone, DTCM is focused on achieving Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020 – to welcome 20 million visitors per year by 2020.
Dubai Cruise Tourism is responsible for globally promoting the destination as a perfect gateway to fly & cruise, viable for pre/post cruise stopover and apt home port in the region; it strives to heighten the awareness of the destination’s cruise offerings to a global audience. It also spearheads the activities of Cruise Arabia, collaborating with regional tourism authorities to present the region as a compelling proposition to the cruise industry. The department endeavours to increase cruise visitor numbers to Dubai contributing to achieving the goals of Dubai’s Tourism Vision 2020.
