Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is a government entity established in 2015 with the mandate to develop the Kingdom’s tourism industry. Since its inception, BTEA has steered its efforts towards consistently marketing and promoting Bahrain as a unique destination in the region. BTEA launched Bahrain’s new tourism identity – ‘Bahrain. Ours. Yours.’ In April 2016, as part of its long-term development strategy to strengthen the tourism sector and boost the influx of inbound traffic into Bahrain. BTEA’s development strategy is based on four main pillars; to improve the Kingdom’s main gateways, including the King Fahad Causeway, Bahrain International Airport and Khalifa Bin Salman Port, and revamp the port facilities to facilitate better access into the Kingdom via sea, for visitors coming in on cruises and private yachts; to enhance the appeal of the country by hosting all-year-round events and increase the capacity of the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre; to enhance the country’s hospitality offerings and increase the number of hotels and serviced apartments and also establish a hospitality and culinary college as an added appeal; and to expand its reach to international markets and drive in more international tourists while still focusing on its core GCC tourists and promoting Bahrain as an ideal family destination. For this purpose, BTEA has launched seven representative offices in key targeted markets which are: Saudi Arabia, UK, Germany, France, India, China, and Russia.
